Life sciences week at EXPO Shanghai 12-19th of June 2010

The Provinces and Cities of the Netherlands have selected a few topics which should promote The Netherlands at the EXPO in Shanghai. The topic of Infectious Diseases and Vaccines was one of the subjects of the Life Sciences Week organized by the Province of South Holland in close collaboration with Science Alliance and organizations such as Immuno Valley, Amsterdamse Innovatie Motor AIM and Utrecht Life Sciences ULS. The Dutch Pavilion was the place to host our meetings and receive our mostly Chinese guests.
The seminar that was scheduled on Thursday 17th of June was attended by about 80 Chinese guests and 20 Dutch delegates. Chinese guests were high ranked representatives of Chinese Universities, institutions such as the Shanghai Institute for Biological Products (SIBP), Shanghai Institute of Veterinary Research and different Chinese and multinational companies. The overall theme for the seminar was :”how to counter the threat of emerging infectious diseases”, whereby the infections that cross the barrier of animals and man received special attention.
